Backpacking Glacier Montana

“I’m in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana it is love. And it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.” -John Steinbeck

I couldn't have said it better myself Johnny. Backpacking through Glacier National Park was a life changing, soul searching, spiritual experience. The trip could not have come at a better time.  I had spent the six months leading up to the trip vigorously editing my thesis, completing coursework, working, looking for work, preparing to move apartments, and shooting every chance I got. Needless to say my mind and my spirit felt chaotic; that is, until I set foot into that crisp mountain air. The week in Glacier provided clarity as nature often does so easily. It was time spent with wonderful people (my tribe) and breathtaking scenery. I can't wait to get back out there. Oh...and the not getting eaten by a bear part was pretty cool too.

Due to weight restrictions (meaning how much I was actually willing to carry), I didn't bring much in the way of camera equipment for this trip, just a D80 and a 35mm and I'm kicking myself. Next time, I'm bringing the equipment I need to capture the images I want, weight be damned. But until then, here is what I was able to document....I still think you get a pretty good idea of how utterly gorgeous this land is ;)

Roscoe Village Maternity Session

Brandon and Phuong are one of the loveliest couples I've had the privilege of knowing. They're as sweet and fun as they are good looking, and the world could use a few more people like them (guess it's a good thing they're having a baby!) I'm so thrilled to have photographed them as they, and their boxer Slevin, prepared to welcome their first child into their family...

Romantic Michigan Wedding

This lovely, elegant wedding took place in a little beach town on Lake Michigan. Simple and entirely romantic, this couple said "I do" on a grassy bluff in the gorgeous, late afternoon light.
